Ever so slowly...

Got this Scotch whisky thing from my aunt. And having a blast making cd's for New Year's Eve. Made one with Sexton Blake for dinner and one with Sally Shapiro / Herman Düne / Late of the Pier / The Walkmen / Beck / The Notwist & Beach House for before and after. Mikkel, Jpg-manja and I will be spending it with manja's brother, manja's brother's girlfriend, a couple, and five Swedish girls, whom we've never met before (or, we've met the one, but not the four)!? And after that a craaazy party on Nørrebro!? I'm guessing I'll be blushing all evening.
And I'm alone in the house, which is kinda odd. Or, not quite alone, since there are two in the annex, but still. And somehow, I miss this ("I wanna watch you bleed, ever so slowly" is suuuuch a corny line, but the song is cool the 90ies noisy way).

X-mas...

Is over. Fortunately. Or, it was cool enough, but I started missing Copenhagen after a few days (I always do), so being back is rather nice. Went to Props today, after that to my son's birthday, and then a bit of recording. And now, I'm just tired. And I need some noise and sentimentality:

What' you got....

I've been singing that line all weekend (it's part of the chorus of our next single :-)). And yes, we've been recording like maniacs, and it sounds swell, swell, swell. And Friday we went dancing! And I slept at a friend's place (watching her eat porridge and drink tea, while we watched Dalziel and Pascoe at 5 in the morning was extremely cosy).
AND a free song from the ONBC/pierre archives. It's a song called "Ventil" named after a Portugese brand of cigarettes Mikkel and I smoked when we were in Lisbon in 2000. Smashing trip, drank large quantities of white wine and beer, Mikkel introduced me to mussels, a girl told us that "you look like vodka" (which was kinda odd, until we discovered that she meant that we looked like some people in a vodka commercial) and we got chased (and hit on) by a man who kept calling us "Mikkeliiiiii" and "Yyyyvan". We recorded the song shortly after returning and we played it, when we played our one and only live concert as pierre at Studenterhuset in 2001 as warm up for Future3(and we tried to re-record it last year, but it sounded crappier than crap, so now we're just giving it away, because it's one of our favourites from back then in the good old days).

I still love Norwegians (part two)...

Found this guy called The Little Hands of Asphalt on the map which also features us. Pop meets country and rather catchy, if you ask me.
Btw, I also love cover versions as these ("Bette Davis Eyes" and "Hungry Heart" for instance) made by Sexton Blake.

I still love Norwegians...

First of all, for having a term such as "skjeggerocken". But also for giving the album of the year award to the dude with "the longest and most trustworthy indie-beard". Here's a vid:

Back...

Back from Jutland and funeral and practicalities and etc. And company Christmas lunch on Friday with a cover band + Andrew Strong as the artists (who the Hell decided that, sweet Jesus that was bad!!!). And band Christmas lunch yesterday, so I'm feeling rather tired today (it was fun, though). So today relaxing and listening to music:

And recording tomorrow, that'll be nice. 4 songs to record AND no less than 2 hotter than hot guest artists.

9 of the year...

I listen to too few albums, so I'm not gonna make the usual top 10. Instead I'll give you:

9 recommendations you can't do without:
1: The Walkmen: You & Me. Because "On the Water" is the most beautiful and most desperate song made this year / because you can hear that they've tried hard / because the drums are the coolest sort of ever.
2: Herman Düne: Next Year In Zion. Because "My Baby Is Afraid Of Sharks" is the best ballad this year / because I've loved the band since I saw them play in front of a 12-people audience at Huset.
3: Bakers at dawn: The best of bakers at dawn. Because he's number 1 on my last.fm / because it's a great album / and he's a cool Swede too :-).
4: Klaus&Kinski: Tu hoguera está ardiendo. Because whenever I need cheering up in a melancholic way I'll listen to "Flash-back al revés" / because it's a great album / because they're the nicest band I know.
5: Navyelectre: The Mourning. Because it's weird fucked-up shit / because it's cool.
6: The Notwist: The Devil, You + Me. Well, it's German / because "Gloomy Planets" makes me wanna cry.
7: Late of the Pier: Fantasy Black Channel. Because it's weird shit too / and I'm too old for it, but I like it anyway.
8: Palpitation: I'm Happy Now (EP). Because it's cool / because the concert in Malmø was excellent and just what I needed.
9: Beck: Modern Guilt. Because any record with a song like "Chemtrails" deserves to be on a list / I mean the DRUMS!

And while I was doing this list, my grandmother died. I can't play anything she would've liked, because I've never known what she actually did like (she was a radio and Giro413-person). But she was the sweetest I've ever known, so I'm just gonna play what I play, when I'm sad:

"We will reward you with complete depression"

Hehe, Victoria was rather funny. And the concert was great, though the guitar could've been a bit louder. And an interview (in German):

And now enough about Beach House :-). And stuff about music blogs on Bandbase. And nothing else.
