I hate myself when I'm alone...

And no, everything's fine :-). It's just that last night we had sort of a break-up-songs-theme. And At Break of Day is, well, near to being perfect. So listen here.
And the pre-party was brilliant and The Banana Hold-Up, too. Lots of dancing. Lots of beer.
And do you remember this one?:

The name Urquhart came up, while watching Monty Python on DR K (great idea btw).

X-mas! Yay!

Yay! X-mas has been brilliant. My aunt came to Copenhagen, and we had a not very x-masy x-mas. Kösk kebab on the 23rd and rabbit ragout yesterday. And then just some wine and presents. And I got the best present I've sort of ever got; A picture by Kirsten Klein (I get to pick the one I like the most among the 7 or 8 my aunt's got). Huge sentimental value + I really like them = large smiley.
Oh, and go via Stytzer and download the Fireflies cover EP! It's goddamn great (there's a cover of this one, CJ):

And now, relaxing, and then beer and dancing!

Forgetting...

As pointed out by CJ and monsieur Lykkeager I forgot a few things about the trip. I also forgot that we saw Sonic Youth and Serena Maneesh btw.
And arcade and Stonehenge photos here.
And now, lyrics and red wine and bed.

ATP...

Well, that was just excellent!
Friday: By some strange coincidence we ran into Stytzer on the plane. As always it was a pleasure and we had a good chat about music and favourite Mew-songs. Met up with the rest of the dudes in Gatwick, picked up our car and off we went. And here begins the legend of CJ :-). I'll leave out rather a lot of the details, but:
1: It took us 7(!) hours to get to Minehead, because he had to go to the bathroom every 20 minutes.
2: As that was mainly due to him drinking large amounts of beer and half a bottle of Scotch, we also had the pleasure of hearing him make the funniest rant about "people wearing Vibskov clothes and liking Townes Van Zandt" I've ever heard and
3: Missing most of Yo La Tengo. And a million other things! So we didn't hear that much music that night, but those of us who didn't get banned for "dancing badly :-)", danced a bit and had a few drinks, too. And here's an odd fact: Bartenders at Butlin's Minehead seem to believe that you can:
1: Make a Bloody Mary with ketchup and water. And
2: Make a White Russian with lemonade.
Then we went to bed.
Saturday: English breakfast, beer, cider. Hearing Harmony Rockets play one chord for 20 minutes. Hearing Spectrum play one chord for 20 minutes. Hearing J. Mascis & the Fog play a very nice concert. Hearing My Bloody Valentine play a not very nice concert. Dancing like devils to the coolest two DJs. Going to bed.
Sunday: Sunday roast. Beer. Cider. Watching weird ATP tv. Playing pool. Swervedriver, which was amazing! Playing air hockey. Beer. Múm, while we sat at Burger King. Dancing like devils to one of the two coolest DJs. Party at crazy Norwegians' place. Bed.
Monday: Going home (rather much faster :-)).
And wow! The combination: Holiday resort/Festival/Somerset is weird beyond belief. And brilliant. Go there, if you can. And a video:

Last night...

Brilliant evening. Went to see Cody at Din Nye Ven. Mini concert, which was very cool. And then beers and hanging out with da Boombox boys and girl. And sweet-as-always cello-Line.

AND: I think I've written a rather catchy pop ballad. So that's cool, too.
AND: Off to ATP on Friday. Ooooooooh yeah!

Nightmare before Xmas...

The stage times have been announced. And it seems that I'll only be missing Primal Scream, as I'll rather see Yo La Tengo (and I've seen Primal Scream before and their latest albums are crap anyway, so ...). So here's a video from back when they were cool:

Down with da flu...

Well, that's just how it is. Spent my days in bed since Wednesday morning. But I'm finally gettting better (I'm now capable of sitting and even drinking coffee :-)). So tomorrow will be an off day too, and then back to work on Tuesday.

And wow! I'm thinking that My Evil Twin-Cecilie's first single will be a smash hit! Try it on Myspace, as it sounds like dreampop meeting Madness and a bass straight outta Boney M (and that's actually a compliment), goddamn, it's catchy!

Tuesday, November 17, 2009

I looooove...

Election night! So I've bought a couple of beers and now I'm gonna watch tv for the rest of the evening.

And how the hell did I miss this song?! Or why didn't anyone tell me? And why isn't it a smash hit already? Or is it? Momma, it's catchy!

And thanks to imageyenation for posting it!

Mesmophone...

Video. Bakers at Dawn. Brilliant.

Bakers at Dawn: Mesmophone from Cory Landels on Vimeo.

Wednesday, November 11, 2009

They're Belgian...

Is there some sort of country/folk revolution going on? This band is Belgian. They're called Isbells. And it's very, very nice. Myspace.

Friday, November 6, 2009

Funky Jutland...

Hehe, Thomas Treo thinks Thomas Helmig is "jydefunky" (and that's not a compliment :-)).

And a video of Klaus & Kinski playing an acustic version of "El Christo del perdón" right here.

And now a glass of red wine and then bed, going to the Club:Dox concert with Afrikan Boy tomorrow.

Tuesday, November 3, 2009

Auuuuuhhhhh...

Hehe, just bought a Povl Dissing compilation. And that means that I spend my days at work listening to this while laughing at lines as: "Kan jeg ikke blive din rigtige mand, så lad mig blive din støder":

Oh, and the Mixtapes & Cellmates album is pretty much ok. Not fantastic, but I'll recommend songs as "All the lights", "Soft Eyes", "Soon" and "Sunday" (and the rest are like so-so). Check out "Soon" (with very cool Dinosaur Jr.-like drums and very catchy chorus) here:

Friday, October 30, 2009

"So perfumed that the winds were love-sick with him"

I still very much like P.G. Wodehouse!
And oh. Check this out (thanks to It's A Trap):

I'm defo gonna buy that album soon.

Tuesday, October 27, 2009

That beat...

...is fucking great! So screw that I'm tired. And that it's very much old news. Because "IRM" by Charlotte Gainsbourg is hefty as hell. Go listen!

Roslyn

Still pretty tired. Out for a few beers and drinks on Saturday. And watching the brilliant Liverpool-Man Utd. game on Sunday. And Drømmenes Bodega rehearsing. And Boombox recording yesterday.
So "Roslyn" by Bon Iver & St. Vincent is rather nice in such a situation (via Soundvenue High 5).

Friday, October 23, 2009

ROFLMAO

I want this as a t-shirt. "I now Ultraviolet Thunder, Immortal Master of Eagles", hahahahahaha.

And Søren's back blogging, yay!

And finally a great post-rock album again! Do Make Say Think's "Other Truths". 4 songs: "Do", "Make", "Say" and (surprisingly :-)) "Think". It's the Canadian sound, alright, but somehow at the same time simpler and more complex than what they usually do. It's jazzy without being crappy and noisy without being noisy? I can't really explain. But pheeeeew, it's great, I wanna grow up and play drums like that! And you can listen at 3voor12. And guess what? I really, really think that you should (I would seriously rate it 5.5 out of 6)!

Wednesday, October 21, 2009

This could do for a century...

This is an order: Go check this band out!
They're Norwegian. They're called Sky Is A Roof. And they're brilliant. Think Mogwai playing like a folk band (while singing), if that makes any sense. And if you like bands that sound like "Mogwai playing like a folk band (while singing)" I really meant the thing about it being an order.

Sunday, October 18, 2009

Coco...

Cool thing about being in Jutland: You listen a lot to P4. So yesterday I heard "Coco" by Miss B. Haven and I suddenly remembered how much I actually liked the band in the late 80ies and early 90ies. Never bought an album, just listened to the radio and saw them play once at Kløften Festival. Anywho, "Coco" is still a wonderful song and so is "Kandis Karrusel" (and Lise Cabble has the best female voice ever in Danish rock). And you can get a lot of free mp3's here! And this song's cool, too (and notice the bass player, I kinda thought she was very hot at the time :-)):

Sunday, October 11, 2009

Concert....

Yay!
1: I'm feeling fine after a week of illness :-).
2: Yesterday we played our first concert with the second band we've started after the ONBC break up. And that also means that we've found a name for it. It's called Mikkel Max og Drømmenes Bodega. As the name suggests Mikkel's singing in Danish (while playing guitar and the occasional melodica or even flute) and the other five members (Ulrik, Søren, Torben, Jpg-manja-Jesper and moi) handle percussion, drums, synth, guitar and bass. We'll be making a Myspace profile or whatever shortly and upload a few songs, the style being folkpop with a hint of indie and country. I think. And the concert went super. We only fucked up a couple of times and the audience seemed to like it. But then again it was a private party and we knew quite a few of them, so....:-). But nice to know that we're capable of playing six songs, so we're expecting that we'll be able to play a "real" concert in a few months time. And thanks to the lovely, lovely, lovely Helle and Christina who let us play at their Birthday party!
3: And since I've been ill I didn't drink all that much, so no hangover today (but amazing evening, though, it even included a funky outdoor lapdancing of some sort :-)). So spent the day moving gear, eating at Halifax and having a beer at Plenum. Where they played this and I might have said it before, but that song is just so fucking great and the guitar solo is just so out of this world cool (and the sound quality is crap btw):

Monday, October 5, 2009

Ooooooooh....

My god, I feel bad. I'm sneezing and coughing and what not. Goddamn! This is what happens, when you spend a Thursday evening standing outside and drinking beer at a Crunchy Frog housewarming (and then spend the weekend having fun with an old friend in stead of drinking tea). Cool party and cool weekend, though, but today is just hell.
But: 49ers are 3-1. Brøndby won. And some nice things will happen this week. So not all that bad. And The Rumour Said Fire's The Balcony is Ugens Uundgåelige this week, which is very nice, when you're ill and have to listen to it 5 times a day :-).

Sunday, September 27, 2009

Whoa...

Friday: We arrived. Discovered that we had booked the room Thursday and Friday, not Friday and Saturday. But that got solved. Had a few beers and some Teigtasche. Went to the Snake & Jet's concert (which was nice). Went to see Times New Viking (which was bad). Went to see Golden Kanine (by accident, but it was cool, still). Curry wurst (scharf, scharf, scharf). Molotow, dancing, Crazy Horst, drinking, Eldorado, Übel & Gefährlich, dancing, hotel.
Saturday: Wies'n Frühstück. Flohmarkt. A few beers. Looked at Millerntor, yay, bought souvenirs. Found cafe with cheese and cider. Found cafe that served the largest White Russian and some pretty cool Mojitos. Saw some bands which were kinda bad. Curry wurst (scharf, scharf, scharf). Boozing. Danced a bit at a punk club. Hotel.
Today: Brunch. Loooong walk to the immensely cool harbour. Going home. Met very cool girl on the train that gave us a lift in her car from Rødby to Copenhagen.
And basically. Hamburg is brilliant. I wanna live there at some point, I think.

And Rutschgefahr. And Gruselkomödie. German is brilliant too.

Thursday, September 24, 2009

You could say she was attractively built....

Oh and before I'll be dancing and boozing in Hamburg there's a bit more going on here. I just discovered that the readers of DR have decided upon their favourite Beatles songs. So I thought that I might as well make a top 10 of my own. So here goes:
10: We Can Work It Out (basically just a good tune).
9: Helter Skelter (well, noisy as hell and cool as whatnot).
8: Dear Prudence (it's just beautiful and the Siouxsie version is cool shit too).
7: Ticket To Ride (the guitar and the drums!).
6: I Want To Hold Your Hand (the chorus, goddammit!).
5: Sun King / Mean Mr. Mustard / Polythene Pam / She Came In Through The Bathroom Window (because I used to play the last 3 songs with Mikkel, when we were drunk).
4: Taxman (it's so raw, so tough and so in your face).
3: Something (well, being sentimental. And it's so beautiful).
2: Do You Want To Know A Secret (well, sentimental again, and the "uh-uh-uh-uh-uh". I'd very much like to do a cover version at some point).
1: A Day in the Life (the bass is like wild, the drums are like yay and it makes me wanna like dance and cry at the same time):

Un peu trop idealiste...

Tomorrow we're off. To Hamburg and Reeperbahn Festival, that is. And it's gonna be smashing, smashing, smashing and then some.
And first Boombox pic.
And video (I have a kinda hot Birkin photo hanging in front of me at work :-)):

Monday, September 21, 2009

All dried up...

Ui. Take a listen to Eyelied Movies by Phantogram. Very cool beats, synth, shoegaze, indie and even Blonde Redheadish at times. In other words: Recommendable.

And ui. Also check out Pinkunoizu. Dudes from Le Fiasko, Selvhenter and others. Lo-fi, country and somehow it also reminds me of the Yerself Is Steam by Mercury Rev. And that's a compliment :-). And a reason to find Carwash hair on Youtube :-):

Cody...

Stream the new one on Bandbase. Yay!

Sunday, September 6, 2009

Sundays...

This has been a rather cool one. Been listening to the new Yo La Tengo (stream album here). And it's great, it's got the typical Yo La Tengo ballads, a bit of noise and some psych (and I haven't got the track list, but the third song is perhaps the prettiest/saddest song I've heard this year).
And then just relaxing after yesterday's football game (sweet jesus, lucky Danes) and the amazing Crunchy party (pictures via Soundvenue). And then writing lyrics for a song. And now, I'm gonna write some more. And drink some red wine.

Sunday, August 30, 2009

Uiiiii...

Smashing weekend!
Recording / recording / hanging out / and:

Number 1 :-):

And thanks to Jeff, I'm now the proud owner of a cool mixtape. Loads of cool bands on, here's one of them:

Wednesday, August 26, 2009

While my gitanes gently weep...

Mikkel, Jpg-manja and I are planning a trip to the Reperbahn Festival. I'm gonna watch this here band for sure.

Sunday, August 23, 2009

Brilliant....

...week for Brøndby :-). And I actually saw the game on Danish tv today, wtf!

Apart from that? Not much. Trying to write some lyrics. Played a bit of football.

And when will they show this one again?:

Soon would be nice, please.

Wednesday, August 19, 2009

Masterpiece?

The new Mew? I've been listening a few times on 3voor12. And I'm not really impressed. I really like "Beach", "Repeaterbeater", "Hawaii dream" and "Intermezzo 2", but that's not quite enough, when the rest is slightly boring or just too bloody pompous. It's sort of "you've-heard-it-all-before-just-better"? Cool, cool, cool drums, though! But masterpiece? I think not.
Or perhaps I'm just too old to understand, because I actually like the Timber Timbre album much better :-).

Wednesday, August 5, 2009

Purple rain...

Band meeting, dancing, moving for Jeff, dancing, hanging out, work, rehearsing, work, rehearsing, work. My life from Friday to today. Now, I wanna sleep!

And thanks to Tora (Thoughts of a Viking), who told me about White Birch! So go here and listen to a sweet, sweet cover of Purple Rain!

Tuesday, July 28, 2009

Not to Be...

Yup, bought the new Malcolm Middleton. And it's pretty much ok. Not the best record I've ever heard, but it's cool enough. Go for songs as Shadows, Box & Knife, Subset of the World and defo Not to Be, if you don't feel like buying an entire album. And generally it's sort of too well produced to my liking, but what the hell do I know? Here's an old video:

And whatever you do. Don't ever read Nelson DeMille's novel Spencerville! I just did and I can truly say that it's quite possibly the worst I've ever read.

Sunday, July 26, 2009

Quiet...

Yeah, a quiet weekend, it was. Company thing Friday, a few beers with Jpg-manja afterwards. And Saturday a small party at Jeff's, where people had drinks and played old arcade games. And I went home early as I was feeling tired. Jeff played his usual splendid music, so now I'm listening to Love's "Gather round", which is absolutely smashing!
Oh, and the new Yo La Tengo sounds smashing, too!

Wednesday, July 22, 2009

The Boombox Hearts

Yay! We've got a name for the new band. And the recordings went splendid!

Watch this space tomorrow :-).

And boozing, dancing, work, other stuff and more other stuff, so now I'm knackered. And listening to blues cd from Uncut.

Friday, July 17, 2009

Boom...

YAY!
Thunder is a comin'.
I just assembled my new drum kit.
I'm going to the studio to record alternative versions of two songs tomorrow.
Camera Obscura will be playing at Loppen!

Monday, July 13, 2009

I'm sorry...

Or actually, no. Just tired. But you know how you sometimes forget that you like a band? Well, I just remembered that I'd forgotten that I really like R.E.M. (and that was mostly due to the fact that my son's been going on and on about how he has all R.E.M. albums, which he hasn't :-)). Anywho, here's a video:

And hehe, you know what? I just bought a digital drum kit, so I can keep in shape, now that I don't have time for football (one sweaty hour of practise every day ought to do the trick :-)).

Sunday, July 12, 2009

Short's the word...

For my holiday in Jutland. Back in Cph already, as my aunt's car broke down in England, so she couldn't get back home in time for a visit. But at least I managed to spend 7 hours getting from Langeland to Skærbæk and attend a party with family, the mandatory organ dude and the equally mandatory marching waitresses. Kinda fun, though, even if it sounds like something out of a 50ies movie.

Wednesday, July 8, 2009

On the road...

I'm going to Langeland tomorrow. And then the South of Jutland. Oh yeah. Splendid, splendid, won't be doing anything. At all! And haven't done anything at all the last week either. Holidays. Oh yeah!
AND: Yo La Tengo will play Den Grå Hal in November! The World is a wonderful place, ain't it.

Friday, June 26, 2009

And weeks as this one...

Well, not quite. Tired, out with a cold, and they're closing Stengade 30. Weird thing, that. I've been going there, ever since I moved to Copenhagen in 1996, so the place actually means something to me. So here's nostalgia for you:

Sunday, June 21, 2009

Weekends as this one...

Should never end. Thursday (which isn't really weekend, I know) Mikkel and I had a coordinating-music-meeting at Props. So we had a few beers and met Cecilie from My Evil Twin, Lasse from Jeremy Sparrow and our Spanish friend, Marta, and her friends. So kinda tired Friday.
And Friday I went to this company thing. And that ended at Bloomsday. So kinda tired Saturday.
And Saturday I went to this Russian thing at Utterslev Mose. And we had a huge party at Jeff's place, watching This Is Spinal Tap, drinking drinks and dancing. Slept at Mikkel's place and was back home at 12 today. So kinda tired again.
And Jeff, the walking encyclopedia when it comes to old American music, played this one (I want a band with bass lines as that one):

Friday, June 12, 2009

How strange...

Being home, while your son's out having fun with his friends.
Did I just turn 50?
What's a man to do?
Dunno.
What I do?
Listening to the new Sunset Rubdown, drinking beer, and smoking cigarettes.
Then I'll watch some crime story or other on TV.
Did I actually turn 50?
The album's great, though, thank the lord.

Thursday, June 11, 2009

Very nice...

Sitting inside, while it's raining like hell.
Rehearsing with not-yet-named-band on Tuesday.
I didn't get fired yesterday either.
And new Dinosaur Jr. video:

Sunday, June 7, 2009

Voting...

Yes, going out to vote in just a few minutes. Slightly hung over. Friday PUJ and Distortion, yesterday DJ'ing at Dyrehaven. Huge fun, as we played anything from Blumentopf and Herman Düne to Røde Mor and Klaus & Kinski.

Tuesday, June 2, 2009

Blasted...

When your son is ill, you tend to get ill afterwards. So that's what I did. And that meant that the Wooden Shjips concert wasn't exactly what I bargained for. Kinda feverish, saw the warm-up band (which was crap), drank two beers, got more feverish, saw 6 songs, went home (the 6 songs were pretty cool, but it's rather hard going all "yay, I'm into drone and the one chord-thing", when you just want to go home to your bed). Here's a vid, though:

Sunday, May 24, 2009

A schoolgirl is denied...

Wrong decision! 5 minutes in Russian about Meat is Murder ain't gonna fly well. This is apparently the Russian word for ordinary: Общепринятая. Aaaaaargh, is all I can say! On the other hand: I don't have a hangover despite being out last night (Dyrehaven, which was very cool). So today I've rehearsed bass, written lyrics AND done the laundry. So all's not bad. And now, I'm gonna think of something very intelligent to say about this song:

Monday, May 18, 2009

Broadway...

New Robert Svensson video:

Robert Svensson - Broadway from Nomethod on Vimeo.

And for some reason our Russian teacher today decided that we have to prepare a 5-7 minutes talk about something which we find very interesting. So I'm thinking that the subject would be my favourite record, but how the hell do you explain the coolness of "Meat is Murder" in Russian!?. Well, I've got a week, so it might work out anyway :-).

Saturday, May 16, 2009

Klaus & Kinski....

Yay, new video (love that song):

And new 5 song mini cd out too (and one of the songs is their cover of "Shell for the mourning", yay again). So I'm thinking that I might need another trip to Murcia soon :-).

Apart from that the Boombox etc. recordings are going coolio. And tonight I'm off to a pretty cool birthday party!

Monday, May 11, 2009

Mistreated...

Sweet Jesus, long week! Recording and dancing, so very much resting today!
And onbc-remix of Beta Satan (find the info here), which was so much fun doing (took four hours and a bit of red wine :-)).
And onbc-interview (in Japanese) + a song in this fine magazine (more info here):

Sunday, May 3, 2009

Malcolm...

Middleton. New song. Via Stereogum. And bought tickets to ATP! Yay, December will be smashing! And off to bed!

Tuesday, April 28, 2009

No sleep...

Birds keeping you up from 4.45 aren't exactly my idea of fun.
And CORNY video!:

Saturday, April 25, 2009

Well, what the Hell...

Since I'm searching for videos anyway, I might as well post them here. So CJ, here goes:

"I was dreaming of the past / And my heart was beating fast" - Jealous Guy.

"And kingdoms rise and kingdoms fall / But you go on" - October.

"Oh, don't sorrow / Oh, don't weep / for tonight / at last / I am coming home / I am coming home" - A Sort Of Homecoming.

"Just don't let me fuck up, will you / Cos when I need a friend, it's still you" - Freak Scene.

"Now we've ended all who'd harm us / no one left here to alarm us / and we live just us alone / safely in our Holly home" - Just To See My Holly Home.

"I try to laugh about it / cover it all up with lies / I try to laugh about it / hiding the tears in my eyes / 'cause boys don't cry" - Boys Don't Cry.

That's it for today, if I have the time tomorrow, I'll post some more (and CJ would love suggestions, so please do comment, if you've got some :-)).

God Only Knows...

Or something.... I've told CJ that I'd help him and find some catchy lines from pop songs for a project he has in Stavanger. So that's what I'm gonna do this afternoon, so far I've found this one:

And kinda tired after football on Thursday, and an evening in the studio + a party yesterday. So I think some white wine in the garden while writing lyrics will be a smashing idea later (and then off to Bolsjefabrikken tonight :-)).
Oh, and here's another for the project (or perhaps ever so slightly too depressing for Norwegian high school kids?):

Wednesday, April 22, 2009

Soundtrack of the summer...

The new album by Camera Obscura, for sure. At least, "Let's Get Out of This Country" was (I vividly remember walking to work and listening to that one for a month of so). Anyways, "My Maudlin Career", as the new one is called, is pretty cool. Scottish indiepop 60ies style with the right amount of slow ballads and low-key female vocals. And I'm cool with that, so no complaints here, now all I need is summer, a gallon of white wine, female company and dancing :-).
Oh, and CJ tells me that he's had the I Am Bones record all along! If nothing else that at least proves that your memory gets destroyed when you're drunk in Norway :-).

Tuesday, April 21, 2009

New Year 2004/2005

I spent that one in Oslo. With CJ and Søren, their girlfriends and friends. Went to some Norwegian girl's party, got drunk, danced and all that. Great fun. And the reason, why I suddenly thought of it, is simple. I forgot my copy of I Am Bones' "If You Really Love Me Send Me More Medical Supplies" and I've missed that ever since. And I mean MISSED IT! In my view it's one of the best Danish records ever made, "All the Relatives Agree", "Get With the Program", "Walk, Don't Run" are smashing and the number of great songs is practically endless. And now you can get it via Frekvens! Yay! Oh, and I once did a review of it too.

Friday, April 17, 2009

11 songs...

That's how many I've written so far for the Boombox thing :-). I've also decided to skip Roskilde this year (sweet Jesus, a lame programme), and go to Start Festival in June and All Tomorrow's Parties in December instead.
Oh, and this is nice: These Glory Days. Pop, indietronica and slacker vocals.
And white wine and then bed, barbeque tomorrow, and rehearsing on Sunday.

Thursday, April 9, 2009

Easter holidays

How splendid. Ain't done nothing. Played football with my son, read a few hundred pages in a rather good novel about a serial killer in the Soviet Union, and done a bit of laundry. Tomorrow my aunt arrives, so that means some sightseeing and some red wine. And on Saturday: listening to my son singing for the first time in Vor Frue with the Sankt Annæ Choir. Yay, and a video:

Monday, April 6, 2009

Coolness...

PUJ was magnificent on Thursday, the photo exhibition was cool, the beers were cooler and free, and I slept at Mikkel's place.
Friday, getting up, walking via Valby Bakke to my work with a cola in my hand and the sun on my face was sweet too. Then my friend came around, and we went drinking beers, met other friends and more friends and ended on Louise's at 7.
Saturday, getting up at 11, hanging out with my friend, drinking beers, ending on Nørrehus at 1.
Yesterday, having the worst hangovers sort of ever, met Stytzer at Snork's and then to the Loney, Dear concert at Vega. And that was goddamn incredible. Goddamn he sings well and the band is way beyond wild.
Today, being the only pupil at Russian lessons meant approx. 100 minutes of me trying to speak crappy Russian :-). And then just work.
So I could with some sleep.
And here's an interview:

Wednesday, April 1, 2009

Well...

Crazy week. Concerts Saturday, Mikkel's Birthday on Sunday and recording on Tuesday. And today relaxing, thank God! Tomorrow Mikkel's taking me to the Psyched Up Janis reunion thing, and on Friday my old friend from Haderslev will visit me, so that means beer too :-). Goddamn, I'll need to sleep for a week!
At least our bartender friend from Props is in this one :-):

Saturday, March 28, 2009

Boombox Pansy...

Hehe, while I'm waiting for new-and-smashing-band to start rehearsing for real, I'm recording with my solo project Boombox Pansy. So Thursday I went to Steffen's (my friend from my football team and guitarist in ALT) studio and recorded beat, bass and some guitar for 4 songs. And they're turning out great (I would say that, wouldn't I :-))! 60ies pop meets Stone Roses meets Arab Strap meets tons of reverb. So happy, happy and going back to record guitar on Tuesday.
And yesterday we helped Mikkel move his stuff to Vesterbro. So all the boys ended up playing guitar, snare drum, keyboard and what have you, while drinking beer and rum and eating Mexican food. Brilliant, indeed. And now, a cup of white wine, Loney, Dear in my headphones and 2 concerts on Studenterhuset afterwards. Brilliant, too :-).

Sundays, the rain, the rain...

In a good way. I've had a marvellous weekend. Hanging out with my son, getting him and yours truly a Turkish bread kebab at Kebabistan's Nørrebro shop :-). Reading a crime novel, naturally. Rehearsing guitar/bass for the for fun solo-stuff, I'll be recording next week. And playing a bit of football.
And Svingninger made me aware of this almost new Bill Callahan song (CJ would like it, methinks).

Splendid, splendid...

Had a smashing day, actually. Got my bike fixed. Borrowed a crime novel. Had coffee, while sitting outside. Bought a 15W guitar amp for 150,-. Talked with my 67-year-old landlord who had been to Amigo Bar until 4 this morning :-).
And since my friend is ill, I won't be going out tonight. Just drinking a glass of white wine and listening to this, then:

Cut your hair!

Well, I just did:

Post 200 :-).

Why the hell...

Would anyone make the best songs on an album shorter than two minutes? Ask I Was a King. Because that's what they've done, as "California" and "Fading Summer" are two of the best songs I've heard this year, and they're 0.57 and 1.47 respectively. But then again, who cares, it's a very, very cool album! In-your-face-drums the cool way (and the drummer's less tight than I am :-)), noisy/60ies guitar, 60ies bass and soooooo sweet vocals + harmonies. I'm gonna be drunk on the 12th of April, while making air-guitar/drums/whatever. Yay! Tomorrow, I'll be dancing too.

Fuck you and the horse you rode in on...

I ain't going to no US of A. Problems with our time registration and me being an arse mean that I'm all out of vacation.
So cheering myself up:
1: I'll be going to Den Frie, Underwood Ink and Rust on Saturday.
2: I'll be going to Loney Dear on the 5th of April.
3: I'll be going to i was a king on the 12th of April.
4: This is a beautiful song:

Rehearsal...

Yes, first rehearsal with new-very-secret-and-hip-but-not-yet-named-band. And it was fun. And after that we went to Folkets Hus and danced the night away to sweet soul music.
AND: We've discovered that Herman Düne plays New York, when we'll be there in March. Yay!:

Goddamn...

I feel like going out! But it's Thursday and I've got work and a football match tomorrow, so I think I'll have to wait until Saturday. Damn it, damn it, damn it!
But this is cool: Barndommens forår, some Danish dude called Anders Mortensen with a nice combo of indiepop and math/post/whatever rock + sweet vocals (60ies meeting C.V. Jørgensen, if you ask me). Go listen. Myspace.

Efficient...

That would be me. Managed to get up at 9 despite having been out last night. Football party and a few drinks at Dyrehaven. And efficient may be a bit over the top, since I've only done the laundry and not much else, but still, I'm not sleeping :-). And I'm listening to this:

The demo's better...

But isn't it always? Anyway, it's the new edition of "Punk Spirit" by Wave Machines I'm talking about. New track "You Say The Stupidest Things" is pretty cool, though, so do go and give'em a visit.
And ain't done nothing but work, going to the library, making dinner and reading Ian Rankin today. Which is kinda alright, so tomorrow I'm thinking I won't be doing shit either :-).

Yes, oh yes...

Guess what, I got delivered at work today. THE BASS. Oh, yeah. And it's beautiful, and it's easy to play, and everybody's happy. Or at least I am. Despite still looking like Rambo on a bad day. And the dude who tackled me (my old boss from my old department, to be exact) gave me a large Jacobsen Brown Ale, so I'm drinking that right now. And listening to Cody, before going to the concert tomorrow. Now, I'm gonna call CJ, I think. And dance with my headphones on. Or something. Today's been a good day :-).

Well, well, well...

I don't have a headache, so back to work tomorrow (the black eye and the stitches are still there, though). And my bass just got upgraded to this one. It's a remake of the one played on here (I might need a few dancing lessons, if I'm to be just as cool :-)):

Blue Tuesday...

I've got a black eye, a headache and a sore neck. And soon the fourth scar on my face.
1: Tripping over a dog's leash.
2: Getting hit by a hockey stick.
3: Getting run down.
4: This one.
Mikkel tells me I'm gonna look like Rambo, and if that means that I can invade Vietnam/Afghanistan/Whatever (and box like Marciano, perhaps) without getting hurt and getting filthily rich while doing it, I'm cool with that :-).
Anywho, off to bed and a Dalgliesh-novel, "Dagbog fra midten" was kinda alright, and "Livvagterne" has got to be the worst thing ever produced by DR.

It's a Fuck You Monday too...

Hehe, Achewood! But my Monday ain't been no good either. Got 3 stitches in my head, for one thing (due to being knocked down playing indoor football and smashing my head into the wall). But well, shit happens, and at least it's giving me 2 days at home recuperating. That AND cleaning the messy home I've got, so I'm thinking tomorrow won't be all that great either. Weekend now, please!

It's been a million years...

Since I last listened to Blonde Redhead. But went to the library yesterday and got "Fake can be just as good" (+ a crime novel and a few comics :-)), and it's kinda cool for a quiet Sunday. This one ain't on it, but a great song still:

The end, the end, the end...

Of Oliver North Boy Choir, that is. Kinda strange, kinda hard and kinda nice. I vividly remember Mikkel telling me (on my birthday back in 2000) that you could actually record songs on your computer (and I thought wtf, that's too goddamn wild :-)), and that same day we started pierre. And that led to recordings, splitting up, getting back together as ONBC, recording, releasing, having fun, drinking beers and white wine, having coffee and dinners, hanging out with our children, being played on P3, anti-concert at SPOT and loads of other things. So we defo enjoyed the ride. And thanks a million to everyone who took part in it!
What I also remember from that birthday in 2000:
1: Mikkel (as always :-)) decided and made dinner.
2: Ulrik came by.
3: I'm rather certain that we went out, but can't remember where. Eforen perhaps?
4: My son gave me "Philophobia" (or rather, my ex and I had this thing that we'd buy a thing for ourselves as a gift from him, so I bought it for myself :-)). And this is one of my favourites ever:

Blackdisco...

Almost done doing the bonus track (and the song is called "Blackmail" and it's in a dancey-disco version, hence the title :-)).
And naturally, I'm tired. Went to Rust with Mikkel on Thursday, Friday we recorded, and yesterday was bonanza. Went to see Martita Dinamita and Bananen on Din Nye Ven (which was very cool DJ-stuff) and then to Nøglebar (which was kinda sad, since they don't take VISA's or any cards whatsoever and you couldn't draw cash anywhere on Vesterbro). But home at 5, and today brunch at Cubanito and a few beers at Props with Mikkel and Jpg-manja.
And hehe, I've been looking for this song for ages:

It sorta takes you back to being 5 /15 or something. And either watching children's tv or drinking beer and listening to strange heavy. Which reminds me of driving to some weird party at some weird farm while listening to this (and later kissing a girl behind the barn :-)):

A sort of homecoming...

Going to Norway is always kinda weird. Though I've never lived there, it feels like coming home when I see Oslo. And P4 played DeLillos twice during the weekend, so here's a video:

And nice weekend, btw. Snow, hanging out, drinking beer (and having made a rather cool playlist for the bus trip: Bakers At Dawn, Chromatics, Beach House and Fireflies / this one is defo a song for driving):

Lower than lofi, but higher

Yeah! Very Norwegian, very arty, and yes, lower than lofi, but higher. And speaking of which, I'm off to Norway on Friday. Dad's turning 60, hanging out in Rånåsfoss, dinner in Oslo, and then back on Sunday.

Tuesday, January 20, 2009

Yeah, yeah...

It's kinda funny, if you ask me. I mean, I'm all for Obama and all that, he's pretty goddamn cool at rhetoric (though I thought his inaugural address was a bit long) and he's defo much cooler than Bush / Hillary / Whatever. But my Danish Facebook friends going "Go Obama", "I love you Obama" or "Yes we can" or whatever, I don't get. I mean, they wouldn't in a million years have voted for the dude, if he entered the Danish elections!? Oh, well, who cares. And speaking of rhetoric, isn't it strange that we (for like a million years) have been so keen on this repeating thing (3 is always best)? Here's Obama:
For us, they packed up their few worldly possessions and traveled across oceans in search of a new life.
For us, they toiled in sweatshops and settled the West; endured the lash of the whip and plowed the hard earth.

For us, they fought and died, in places like Concord and Gettysburg; Normandy and Khe Sahn.

Cicero would've done the same thing (but then again; who cares, here's a vid for Jpg-manja).

Monday, January 19, 2009

Wow...

I'm tired. And video (one of my favourites from last year):

Friday, January 16, 2009

How low can you go...

Muahahaha. I've just bought a bass! Burns Marquee Green Sunburst. How cool is that. Now I'm off to Rust! And a video:

Friday, January 9, 2009

Screw winter...

I'm down with a cold. But managed to go this children/parents thing with my son's class (which was rather nice). Now, I'm just tired, while my son is watching "Charlie's Angels 2"!? Which to my astonishment isn't all that bad. But now sleeeeeeeep. And a video (P3 played Dinosaur Jr. today, wtf!?):

Not this one, but still.

Ever so lovely...

Oooooh mama. New Year's was perfect, spent 6 hours making French fries, had some wine, Swedish glögg, the company was super and the party great too. And the Mikkel and I spent the 1st cleaning up and drinking beer at Plenum and Osborne's (cool bartender at Plenum kept playing nice music which the other, not so cool, bartender kept turning down, Mazzy Star for instance):

And yesterday we went dancing, Mikkel, Ebbe, Jpg-manja and I. The great Vesterbro tour, Ebbe's studio, bars, Kebabistan, more bars, taxis and the whole lot. Today I spent an hour trying to get on the internet, until I discovered that I was on the wireless and for some reason couldn't use my cable!? Now I need a bed (but there's Columbo on the telly, so might go for that one in stead).
